Practice Areas

Civil Litigation is a broad area of practice. The term Civil Litigation covers several existing areas of the law and ones that are developing and evolving everyday. Our approach to Civil Litigation involves first attempting to ensure that you never need to fully litigate a matter through the courts by offering alternative strategies that seek to resolve the matter amicably while keeping costs low.

Our lawyers at Vox Law have years of experience before the Courts and have litigated a number of matters before the Court. Below are some of the principle areas of practice that our firm has experience in:

Corporate Work

Vox Law offers clients assistance in every aspect of corporate and commercial practice. We offer strategic advice regarding establishing your company and ensuring that you are compliant with the regulatory requirements, are tax efficient and that you implement corporate governance best practices. However, we are also aware that things don’t always go as planned for small and even larger businesses and we are here to help. Our lawyers have represented partnerships and private and public companies and are prepared to assist you whether your concern lies in the Small Claims Court, before an Arbitrator or the Court of Appeal.

Bankruptcy and Insolvency

Bankruptcy and Insolvency may be two of the scariest words that any individual or company could hear. We are here to help. Our partners have experience in handling bankruptcy and insolvency litigation. While this area of law is complex and confusing, our lawyers are here to help develop legal strategies to help you navigate this process and ensure that you receive exactly what you are entitled to whether you are a private company, employee, creditor or debtor.

Defamation

Your reputation is one of your most important assets. It can also be the hardest thing to protect from. The law protects you from untrue attacks on your character. As with all of our matters, we try to resolve these matters without taking the immediate leap to court. Many of these matters can often be resolved with a formal apology. However, we are prepared to fully litigate defamation claims to safeguard your reputation and recover damages when entitled.

Construction Law

We represent a number of contractors and sub-contractors working on residential and commercial properties. Construction Law offers a number of remedies for claimants and it is important to get good advice as soon as a project gets underway or at the very least, as soon as you run into problems. We help with drafting agreements, enforcing construction liens and bringing court actions to recover monies owed. Whether you are a large operation or a “mom and pop” construction company we can help.

Employment Law

Employment law concerns everyone and employment law issues arise long before an employee is terminated. We can help draft employee contracts to avoid later problems, and higher legal fees. Our lawyers assist clients in advising on workplace practices and procedures and ensuring that they are in compliance with workplace standards and the Ontario Human Rights Code. We have advised both employers and employees prior to and after the termination of the working relationship and we pride ourselves on giving sound legal advice and cost-effective solutions that often lead to the resolution of matters even before litigation arises.
